“We both grew up messing around on the local sandstone rocks as all children do, and that turned into a lifelong passion for climbing. Tunbridge Wells is full of climbers and that made it the perfect location to set up Chimera Climbing which has been our dream for so long.
We both worked in climbing before starting Chimera – instructing, route setting, anything to be involved. Turning a passion into a business and running our own gym has certainly been a challenge at times but one that has been incredibly rewarding. Being able to share this fantastic sport with so many locals, and see them improve and grow to love climbing as much as we do has been so exciting. Especially given climbing is being included in the Olympics next year, which will be a great boost to the sport as it finally becomes ‘mainstream’ Climbing is our passion, it is a great way to keep fit, not to mention one of the best ways to make friends. Chimera has really grown and evolved in the three years it has been open, it has its own community and we couldn’t be prouder of everyone who works here, shares their passion and of course the locals that have supported us from day one.”
