“I had a sustainability/renewable business called the Sneaker Laundry concentrating on recycling old sneakers or trainers, making them new again, rather than going out and buying a new pair. When I was setting up the website for the business, one of the guys mentioned electric car chargers – I’ve always been interested in cars and it played on my mind for around a year, I didn’t do anything about it, but it was always kicking around my mind.
One day, I was driving behind a bus and, on the back of the bus, there was an advert for the show Fully Charged – it’s a well-known show amongst the electric vehicle community, it felt like it was a sign! I kept thinking about this business and the signs kept popping up, I liked the idea of it, so I decided to go to an EV show to find out more about electric cars, chargers, and everything about the industry. I walked around the show asking people questions about the industry I was like a sponge absorbing all this information – I then knew that it was something I wanted to do and be involved in. I was passionate about it and the people I spoke with were my kind of people.
The idea had been in my head for a year, and I knew that If I didn’t act now, I would regret it, so I set the business up. The business is now 12 months old and is growing from strength to strength, I’m really happy.”
